Social Responsibility

Human Resource Development & Affirmative Action Policy
The most important aspect of our policy is our endeavour to make a significant contribution to the development of the new South Africa and all its people. We are committed to operate within the new SA constitution and to promote the aims of the government of the day, such as the Government’s Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP), Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), human resources development, social upliftment and human rights.

We accept that the successful implementation of an affirmative career development policy is the key to the future prosperity of the firm and its staff. The following were therefore accepted as our strategy from the onset:

  • Start off with staff to firstly enable the prompt and efficient delivery of a specialist and quality service.
  • Reflecting our firm's commitment to black economic empowerment, the firm had made progress in terms of ownership composition. Equity held by black management increased over the years from 0% to 70 % to the current 100%.
  • Recruitment of new supporting technical staff will be from previously disadvantaged communities. Typically a suitably qualified junior technician, with an interest in bridge and structural engineering. Mr
  • Provide in-house training for our own staff and financing fees for them to attend ECSA registered training courses.
  • Comprehensive Bursary from 2011 to 2013 for a full-time black student at the Durban University of Technology.
  • Associations with other firms to build their capacities and enhance the transfer of technology. We are busy assisting Mr LE Masindi to set up his own company.

Professional Registration Mentorship
Leporogo has provided mentorship for two technicians, and enabled them to register professionally.

Community Development & Social Investment Programme
We are striving to contribute to a better, safer community in which people are given the opportunity and tools to reach their full potential.

Our objectives are:

  • To encourage clients to include meaningful elements of consultation with and capacity building of the communities in which projects are to be executed. This includes assistance with training and the development of entrepreneurial skills.
  • Assisting communities with the identification of needs and to convert an identified need into a well-structured and funded project.
  • Involving communities in making decisions about projects, thus democratizing society and building capacity in the community.
  • Encouraging the use of small businesses on contracts.
  • Development and implementation of labour-intensive construction methods.

We have supported the following projects over the last few years on an annual basis:

  • Rotary Meals Project
  • Oliver’s House
  • National Council for Persons with Physical Disabilities
